Mattador - III (CD)

MATTADOR from Puerto Rico are quite a surprise in terms of melodic hard rock. "III", their third effort, offers soaring power ballads, heavy riff-based anthems and many high-octane rockers here. Founded in 1988 and on a long  hiatus between 1995 and 2022, the four-piece is back with a bang. It's a remarkable record with many real highlights. Everything is pretty very well-produced. Co-produced by Bob St. John (EXTREME, DOKKEN) in fact.  There is a bit of QUEENSRYCHE in some songs such as the opener "Awake" but also a bit of GOTTHARD and DOKKEN. (MS)
