Norwegian band MISSLEAD put out their only album in 1989 and "Gentle Persuasion" comes out again now with five bonus songs, fully remastered and with a new booklet, which makes sense given the high prices for an original copy on the usual platforms. The AOR and melodic rock of the outfit around female singer Tove Teigberget (TINDRUM), who went on to marry MISSLEAD guitarist Odd-Øivind Kure, is pretty rough. Songs like "Heatstroke" or "Heartbeat" are even reminiscent of softer metal bands like WARLOCK whereas a song like "Stand Up" could have been an EUROPE composition. Given today's standards, the sound is all but good but the tracks showcase a certain charme, though, and are a perfect sound document of this golden era. (MS)
